I found out this week that this series has at least one fan, so I better make an effort to present interesting stuff :-).

Ever since I started to work with Reaktor I'm a fan of the Berlin-based audio software company Native Instruments. Kore is their all-singing, all-danding workstation that enables the creation of your own effects and software instruments based on the sound engines of the different Native Instruments products. Last year, they released a reduced (and free) version called Kore Player.

Their rationale behind that is quite obvious: Native Instruments quite regularly releases new sound packs at affordable prices that can be loaded into the Kore Player. But: Even in the free basic version, Kore Player offers a fine selection of instruments and effects that makes the download worth it even without an additional purchase.
