RNDigital's Inspector is a helpful little plugin for monitoring different aspects of a stereo mix. It visualizes the levels as well as the stereo balance and can be set to warn the user if any clipping occurs. A nice tool to have for creating stereo downmixes.

Inspector is available for free at the RNDigital home page. They also offer an extended version of the plugin, called Inspector XL.
